CAREERS
What we do
LAET’s careers programme aims to support, challenge and empower students to make confident and informed decisions about their next steps. As part of the programme, we aim to work in partnership with our feeder and local primary schools through our Chrysalis East initiative, supporting their students and providing access to opportunities.

Key aims of the LAET careers offer
- Provide outstanding information, advice and guidance around careers.
- Ensure students have opportunities to explore various options, make informed choices and be able to prepare high-quality applications.
- Build student confidence and resilience to succeed in the workplace.
- Support students in creating lifelong professional networks and contacts.
- Present students with an opportunity to undertake a workplace experience via work visit, work shadowing, and/or work experience.
The careers programme at LAE Tottenham is centred around exploration, offering students exposure to various career options while providing essential information, advice, and guidance, enabling them to make informed decisions about their futures.
The programme integrates workplace visits, work experience, career talks, mentoring, and targeted projects designed to enhance students’ employability and help them make confident choices regarding their post-18 options. It also ensures that students have access to high-quality informal career advice while giving them the opportunity to develop and experience the skills that are highly valued in the workplace.
Pathway programs
Students also participate in Career pathway programs that currently provide students with an insight into the Creative, Finance, Healthcare and Law sectors. Students participate in a range of Panel talk events, meeting professionals in the sector, and engage in practical workshops and networking. We are currently developing new pathways in Politics/Public Sector but are always looking for new employer partners to engage with.
Careers Bulletin
All Year 12 students receive information weekly on a range of opportunities, including work experience, apprenticeships, useful career tools, and a variety of super-curricular resources.
We are fortunate to have established partnerships with several organisations across various sectors, many of which offer exclusive opportunities to our students. These are frequently featured in the bulletin.

Work with us - Employers
Are you an employer looking to work with a school? Then we are looking for you!
We are keen to work with employers who can share their experience, skills and expertise. Our careers programme requires volunteers to act as session facilitators and to lead interviews, and we also welcome speakers and work experience opportunities for our Year 12 students.

Baker Clause
We are committed to ensuring that our students progress to destinations that are best suited to their individual aspirations. The majority of our students choose to progress onto higher education. However, we recognise the increasing demand for non-academic routes into employment, both from students and employers. Consequently, we provide all LAE students with comprehensive information and support regarding degree apprenticeships.
Recently, we have successfully assisted alumni in securing opportunities at leading organisations such as Rokos, Goldman Sachs, Jaguar Land Rover, Amazon, Deloitte, and Shell.
